Description
Slade are an English glam rock band from Wolverhampton/Walsall. They rose to prominence during the early 1970s with 17 consecutive top 20 hits and six number ones. The British Hit Singles & Albums names them as the most successful British group of the 1970s based on sales of singles. They were the first act to achieve three singles enter at number one; all six of the band's chart-toppers were penned by Noddy Holder and Jim Lea. Total UK sales stand at 6,520,171, and their best-selling single, "Merry Xmas Everybody", has sold in excess of one million copies.
- Play It Loud is the second album by the British rock group Slade (and their first under this name, having released Beginnings under the name 'Ambrose Slade'). It was released on 28 November 1970 but did not enter the charts. This is an import from England.
- Slade Alive! is a live album by Slade. The album was released on 24 March 1972, and reached number two on the UK Albums Chart, as well as being Slade's first album to dent the Billboard 200 in the United States. The album contained original songs, plus cover versions of songs by Ten Years After, The Lovin' Spoonful, Bobby Marchan, and Steppenwolf. The album was recorded live at Command Theatre Studio and mixed at Olympic Studios.
- Slayed? is the third album by Slade. It was released on 1 November 1972, and reached No. 1 on the UK charts. The album lasted on the UK charts for a total of 34 weeks, and was also their longest-charting album in the United States where it stayed on the charts for half a year. The album is included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
- Sladest is a compilation album by the British glam rock group Slade. It was released on 28 September 1973, and went straight to No. 1 on the charts. It stayed around the Top 10 until 1974,
- Old New Borrowed and Blue is the fourth album by Slade. It was released on 15 February 1974 and reached No. 1 on the UK Albums Chart. It was certified gold by BPI the same month of release. The album was released in the USA on the Warner Bros. label, under the title Stomp Your Hands, Clap Your Feet, minus the tracks "My Town" and "My Friend Stan" (as they had been previously released there on Sladest) This is what we have...two copies!
- Slade in Flame is a soundtrack album, released on 29 November 1974. It contains songs featured in the film of the same name.
- Nobody's Fools is the fifth studio album (eighth overall) by Slade. It was released in March, 1976 and reached position #14 on the UK Album Chart. The album also peaked at #14 on the Swedish Albums Chart.
- Whatever Happened to Slade is the seventh album. It was released on 21 March 1977 by Barn Records, but did not enter any national album chart. By the time of the album's release, Slade's popularity was waning as were their record sales, which they acknowledged in the album's title. The glam rock movement, of which Slade were associated, had died,
- Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply An alternate version of The Amazing Kamikaze Syndrome which was released in the UK four months prior, Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply was released in North America in April 1984 and reached number 33 in the U.S. charts.
- Rogues Gallery is the twelfth studio album by Slade. It was released on 29 March 1985 and reached number 60 in the UK charts.
