"Every year, tens of thousands of people go to the Cremona Town Hall to visit the Violin Room. Here they admire a unique exhibition of which Cremona is justly proud and which exemplifies the history of the classical Cremonese art of making stringed instruments, from the work of Andrea Amati and various members of his family, through to the absolute perfection of Antonio Stradivarius and the Guarneri family. Recent years have seen a change: the Violin room is now no longer a mute display of curios and precious but inanimate playthings. The violin is now an 'instrument': a means for those who know how to use it properly to create 'sound' or music. A few years ago, sophisticated sound equipment was installed in the Violin Room. This has meant the long-awaited realisation of a plan: to allow the public to hear these famed 'monuments' of Cremonese violin-making, the acoustic quality of each one enriched. The equipment was made by Sonus Faber who named it after Giuseppe Guarneri, known as Giuseppe del Gesù, to commemorate the 250th anniversary of his death. The sound equipment has made it possible for increasing numbers of visitors to experience the marvels of sound that human genius can draw from those mysterius, sinuous pieces of wood. The Town's collection of violins has now become the centre of a new enterprise: their voices have been recorded on this Lp, rekindled by one of the greatest musicians of our time, Salvatore Accardo. Thus Salvatore Accardo gives new life and voice to five jewels of the Cremonese collection, particularly reliable witnesses of a tradition which will never die."

Die Einstufung wurde auf der Grundlage der folgenden Klassifizierungsskala vorgenommen:

"Mint-" - Platte oder Cover gebraucht, jedoch in sehr gepflegtem Zustand, mit keinen oder minimalen Gebrauchsspuren, sehr nahe am Bestzustand, keine oder kaum Hintergrundgeräusche; von mir verwendete Höchstwertung (die Einstufung "Mint" nehme ich grundsätzlich nicht vor).

"Very good+" - Platte mit typischen leichten Spuren regelmäßigen, aber doch sorgfältigen Gebrauchs, z.B. haarfeine Striche auf dem Vinyl, wie sie durch die feine Reibung der Platte gegen die Hülle entstehen können, leichte oberflächenhafte Gebrauchsspuren; keine tiefen Kratzer. Cover z.B. an den Ecken leicht angestoßen, an den Rändern leicht abgenutzt, mit leichtem Plattenrand oder Beschriftung; die Kanten sind intakt, keine Ein- oder Abrisse. Insgesamt ein absolut vorzeigenswertes Exemplar, das kaum oder wenig von seinen Ursprungsqualitäten eingebüßt hat.

Ich biete die Platte aus erster Hand. Gekauft habe ich sie neu und versiegelt vor etwa zwei Monaten. Die Platte wurde seitdem insgesamt nur einmal abgespielt und auf dieser Grundlage bewertet. Ich habe sie auf einer Source Odyssey RCM MKV (Weiterentwicklung der Plattenwaschmaschine von Keith Monks) sorgfältig gewaschen.
