A rare relic of the history of motion pictures and early talkie films... a Vitaphone disc containing music for 1927 The Jazz Singer score Heavy Shellac one-sided Vitaphone Test Sample pressing for "The Jazz Singer" Diss is slightly over 16-inches, a thick shellac pressing made for Warner Bros. by RCA Victor. (label was separated during pressing process, record not damaged) (blank reverse has RCA Victor cobweb design logo) Disc information - title, Reel number, etc. is engraved in the shellac, along with arrow pointing to starting groove for this disc. This disc, like all Vitaphone synchronization discs, starts from an inner groove and plays outward... at 33-1/3 rpm. This disc contains all background or "incidental" music... the film was only a part-talkie, with much of this music between the songs. Might make a great Wall display piece for a film or record collector music room... how many collections contain one of these? Excellent or better condition... plays fine.
