Description

This is a rare and highly sought-after vinyl record, the 1995 original US edition of Viva Last Blues by Palace, on the Drag City label.

This is prime early Will Oldham when he was still using the multiple Palace pseudonyms and with Steve Albini as producer, the vinyl leaves the CD and download versions standing in the dust.

The record is in excellent condition (EX) with virtually no surface noise apart from one some static in the run in grove on side one. Many would grade this as NM but I prefer to be careful with grading.

The record comes with the original textured cardboard sleeve; the original plain inner sleeve; and the original PVC outer cover with hype sticker (which reads ‘Palace’ as the artist name is not on the front cover). There are two very small spots on the rear cover (see photos) and the lightest of ring wear on the front. Otherwise this would be an EX sleeve.

Also included is the original poster insert and the Big Fudge inner sleeve that has housed the vinyl for quite a few years.

I bought this record somewhere in South London in 1996 and had always recorded it on my discogs as the Domino UK edition but having finally read the back cover properly, it is definitively the Drag City US first edition.

I’ve pegged the price around that for a VG+ copy but I am sure the buyer will agree that this is much closer to a cared for EX.
