Description
These picture records are getting harder to come by by the day. A throwback to a different time, the Shoo-Fly Pie side depicts a hungry businessman in suit, tie, and hat, with a slice of pie in hand --- the rest of the pie in front of him, and an Aunt Jemima-looking black waitress on the other side of the counter. While she is extolling the virtues of her pie, he appears to be in a carb-induced stuporous bliss.
You can hear recordings of this 78 online. The B side is "Who's Got a Tent to Rent". Both recorded by the King's Jesters. These picture records were made only for a couple of years in the mid-1940s by Sav-Way Industries of Detroit. The graphics were applied over a metal disc, then liquid vinyl applied, then the grooves were cut.
Very, very cool. Would look great framed --- as these often end up. They are collected for the art as much if not more so than the tunes themselves.
