Wade Marcus was a producer during the 1970s. Marcus produced albums by The Blackbyrds, Gary Bartz, A Taste of Honey, The Sylvers, Eddie Kendricks, The Dramatics, Peaches & Herb, Donald Byrd, G. C. Cameron, Stevie Wonder and The Emotions.
Wade was born in Cleveland, Ohio where he studied trombone with Merritt Dittert at the Cleveland Institute Of Music. The Atlantic-distributed Cotillion label issued Wade Marcus' debut solo album, "A New Era" in 1971.

The album is a terrifically funky take on a number of pop tunes of the era. Since this is an instrumental album, the skill of musicians, enchanced by Wade's taste and versatility can be appreciated. The talented soloists include Hubert Laws on flute, Richard Tee on organ, the guitarist Vinnie Bell and Gene Bianco on harp. Add these men to the talents of the other musicians involved and this album is a classic from the start. "Feelin' Alright" and "Spinning Wheel" have both become well-deserved DJ favorites from this album.

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VERY GOOD+(+) . CAUTION: The vinyl is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in a very nice and clean condition. There are some surface marks and abrasions, mostly light and superficial, although some may be longer than 1.1/4 inches (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters)

(b)          The record comes in the original stock inner sleeve.

(c)             The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·       COVER

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has a partially split top seam (between 2 and 4 inches  / 5 to 10 centimeters); This split seam was delicately taped by the previous owner with a piece of transparent scotch tape

-        Cover has a slight "curly" (wavy) warp across the front panel (nothing significant)

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 2

-         Cover has a few wrinkles along the spine

-         Visible shelf wear noted on the top and bottom seams

-         Cover has two corners slightly worn / dinged  .(nothing significant)

-         The cover has a few tiny scratch marks on the front side  (nothing significant)

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)

-        No yellowing from aging

-        No writing

-        No stamps

-        No peel-off marks

-        No stains

-        No mold or mildew spots

-        No stickers or labels

-        No water damage

-        No warping

-        No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover

-        No glue traces or wax residue.

-        No bar codes

-        No RIAA stamps or stickers.
