WAGNER Tristan Und Isolde Love Duet 78RPM 2x12” Columbia MX 286
Richard Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde – Love Duet (Act II), recorded at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York, March 16, 1947. Issued as Columbia Masterworks album MX 286, this complete two-disc 78 RPM set features Helen Traubel (soprano), Torsten Ralf (tenor), and Herta Glaz (contralto), with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra conducted by Fritz Busch.
This is the original bound Columbia Masterworks album containing two 12-inch shellac discs (four sides total), correctly coupled 1/4 and 2/3. Blue and gold Columbia “Magic Notes” labels. Deadwax matrices read MX 286-1, MX 286-2, MX 286-3, and MX 286-4, with XCO 37480–37483 stampings, confirming original electrical-era metal parts. Disc numbers 72248-D and 72249-D.
Complete example with original album binding, original Columbia paper sleeves, and both original packing pads included. A well-preserved Metropolitan Opera performance from the 78 RPM era.
