Contemporary Atlanta r&b star Summer Walker closes her Over It trilogy with another bold record that forms a fearless full stop. This one is split into two halves, For Better and For Worse, and each one traces the messy crossroads between finding peace and possession. Across 18 tracks in all, the honey-toned artist lays bare the contradictions of love in the spotlight. It's her sharpest, most self-aware record yet, fully stripped of illusion and instead heavy on hard truth, just like any good r&b album should be. The production is couched in classics but with a modern sheen, woozy pads and slow-burning vibes. Summer sounds unbothered and unfiltered here, and we love it.
