In 2012 a conglomerate of veteran Heavy Metal musicians joined together in North Carolina under the moniker of Walpyrgus. Coming from long running, respected bands, founding members Scott Waldrop (guitar/chief songwriter of Twisted Tower Dire), Jonny Aune (vocals of Twisted Tower Dire, Viper), Jim Hunter (bass of While Heaven Wept, Twisted Tower Dire, October 31), Charley Shackelford (guitar of Daylight Dies) and Peter Lemieux (drums - Viper) drew upon influences ranging from Iron Maiden, The Scorpions, Black Sabbath to early Slayer and even The Ramones - resulting in a harmonically rich, melodic, energetic take on classic Hard Rock/Heavy Metal.
