Description
Walrus Self-titled UK DERAM SML 1072
Here is a record I like a lot from the Deram catalogue came out 1970 and is more well know these days but has a very nice mix of Rock and some light elements of Jazz but at its heart is a Interesting Rock Progressive sound that does not really sound anything like any other bands but if you like Records like Aardvark and Gaillard etc this might be of interest.
You might of seen me list a copy of this over the last few weeks please note that this copy is from my Personal collection and at one point I had a think about going for records from other Places I was quite keen on German pressings on Deram so had a few extra ones. This copy is the UK pressing and as shown only has Lamination to the Front and not the back this is the way to tell them apart really.
You will see from the scan the cover has a cut to the corner this was like it when I got it from the US about ten years ago quite poor way of Discounting the stock in US shops but could be worse I will talk more about this below and two scans are shown to give you the information you need as always.
MATRIX First and only pressing
ZAL-10017.P-1W
ZAL-10018.P-1W
Cover
The cover as shown is clean but please note Top right Corner Cut as shown in the first scan this was there since I got it and as said was sold in the US as such was Discounted quite common on Records on this Label as a number from the UK on this label ended up in the US. The cover shows a light Disc Impression mainly from back front does show a light creasing to the edges the light hair-type ones and few rubs to corners top and Bottom of Spine edge mostly opening edge shows a light scuffing around the area you would put the disc in and out. The Text on the spine is clean to see and shows a little creasing back shows a little bit of wear top and bottom seams as such some of the Text has worn mainly at the Top, a nice sleeve but not quite Top end hard to say due to top corner. VG/VG+
LABELS
There are no pen marks or Stickers etc you can see a few odd spindle marks around the Middle of the Spindle holes these are Glossy
so Line up your Spindle they mark easy.
Record/Vinyl
The Record looks glossy and has always been handled with good level of care even since before I had it the record does not have any Scratches and still looks nice I always check vinyl under a good light and when you check it you can make out a few light mostly Bag type scuff/Paper marks Side one shows a very smal hairline more a scuff and and the light marks as said. Side Two again clean glossy with same small light area of very light a Paper marks or Bag marks for better word please check my listing Regarding the Playback its clean copy that has been played but still looks nice. EX
Playback
The Record plays nicely with a good clear sound it has been played a few times but my collection is large and have some on CD so I don't play them every month no Jumps or Clicks light crackle at the start and in the odd place where the music is very low good Pressing seems as good as the German in this case and that is not always the case heavy vinyl as most 1970's ones not much else to say ask if you like.
Please Feel Free to ask more Track listings Etc
My Record Grading System (Based On UK Record Collector Guide)
I Try and play all my items before Listing Please Check my own Details Record/playback IfYou want to Ask Please Feel Free to do so Always Happy to Talk about Records.
I always give Clear Information on all items such as the Sleeves and Records,
Along with Extra items like Inners or Posters etc.
PLEASE NOTE I DON”T USE “MINT” MY HIGHEST GRADE IS NEAR MINT OR M-
(M) Rarely used unless Item is still un-open new. Mainly for new or Re-issue Records
(M-) OR NEAR MINT (A Fantastic Collector Copy)
Very Clean Item with little signs of use, looking almost as new both sides clean with No Scratches
or Surface marks there might be odd Paper marks. Should any copy fail to meet this grade I Prefer to list
down a grade but I always provide sufficient information.
(Ex) (Collector Copy)
The Record has clearly been Played shows some signs of enjoyment, Strong Copy Retaining Full Crisp sound.
Might be odd surface Line or Few Very Minor hairline marks or a few Scuffs. Playback would Still Be Ace with
no Playback Issues.
(EX-) OR (VG+) (Good Keeper Copy)
This Grade means that the copy may have slightly more signs of use but would always have Good Crisp sound.
It might have extra paper marks or Few Hairlines or even an odd Scratch this would not be Audible unless said
and how the Scratches affects the Record would clearly be listed.
(VG) (KEEPER COPY)
The Item has clearly been played many times but Despite Visual Marks Like Hair lines or Scratches and Some
Surface marks. The Sound Still Retains Good playback, if there is a scratch that Sounds I clearly indicate
where it occurs and how it affects the track playing time.
When I use a Grade less than VG it would normally be due to a record being very rare or a sleeve that I feel
does not fit with VG due to Repairs or damage mostly records under VG are Only Fit for the Bin. But if you
are unsure just ask.
