At The Time of This recording Walter Perkins was the top ranked jazz drummer in the giant jazz megalopolis of 1950s Chicago. With this home grown group of sidemen, Perkins soon established himself as a premier world class drummer on the New York and International Jazz Festival scene. Frank Strozier, Willie Thomas, Harold Mabern, all from Memphis, make this a great sounding jazz LP in Stereo.

GRADING STANDARDS - Records are graded according to the standard of an unplayed record. Conservative and basically clear terms of description are used, with visual grading under bright lighting, and play grading using accurate playback equipment. Overused records with little use to serious collectors are excluded.
GRADING CODE - N - Mint = Record is unused, no wear of any kind. NM - Near Mint = A record that has been played only once to a few times very little appearance of wear of any kind. N- New Minus = A well cared for record, not played many times, with only minor, inaudible handling marks. EX+ - Excellent Plus = A record with light usage, minor handling marks, plays well, with only limited and brief periods of light surface noise. EX - Excellent = A record with spots of light to moderate surface wear, audio is still enjoyable to the more tolerant listener. VG+ - Very Good Plus = A record with more signs of usage, surface noise is judged to be not detracting from the musical performance. Enjoyment of the music possible without great effort. careful inspection/evaluation standards apply
