When Deep Purple's original Bassist Nic Simper was fired at the request of Ian Gillan in 1969 he was left at loose ends. He had a short and unsuccessful stint with another band but when it collapsed he obtained the services of the fantastic Vocalist Ashley Hunt and Keyboardist extrordinare Rick Wakeman and formed the powerful heavy Rock band Warhorse. This album, their debut, is an amazing slice of English Proto-Metal right up their with the albums Black Sabbath and Deep Purple were releasing at the time. Ashely Holt is a gem of an undiscovered singer with a powerful voice that's used to great effect here.
