Super rare 1970 UK 1st PRESSING on large Vertigo swirl, 6360 015

Sought after very first pressing, classic early 70's rock - lovely all round condition

Both sides of the thick, heavy duty and completely flat vinyl have retained much of their original sheen and have an excellent appearance in normal daylight. Under a bright light and tilted at the right angle a few wispy hairlines come into evidence along with a couple of light surface scuffs, more noticeable on side 1, along with some paper scuffing resulting from insertion to and from the inner sleeve. There is nothing "feelable" or that is below the surface, however, and nothing to negatively impact upon the excellent overall sound quality.

The quality of the audio is excellent-. There are no skips, "pops" or "clicks" but there is some minimal background crackle, only really noticeable at the beginning of each side, between tracks and during the few quiet passages that do exist : mild, background, but noticeable in places. I'm sure that that a professional clean would cure this background interference, mild though it is. Overall an excellent- listen; put it on the turntable, turn up the volume and enjoy. Even though not in "near mint" condition, in my opinion the audio quality is still superior to that of a re-mastered digital CD where the extra detail is simply obliterated during the compression process.

The gatefold outer sleeve is in excellent condition. There is no ring wear, the edges are still rigid and well defined with just a little surface scuffing in places; the opening edge is also rigid and not frayed,and the spine is in similarly excellent condition with no creasing, all writing legible, and just some very minor rubbing more noticeable on the edges at each end of the spine. There is a small triangular "nick" on the front side just underneath the letter "W" (see photo) but apart from that all colouration, on both the front and reverse side, is excellent. The inside of the gatefold is in excellent minus condition : everything is nicely in order but there is the hint of some slight age discolouration adjacent to the edges, and just above the middle of the centre spine (between the photos of Ashley Holt and Nick Simper - founding member of Deep Purple, remember him?) there is what looks like a very light brown stain. These are all minor blemishes and do not make the gatefold sleeve any less impressive, which has aged well and still in excellent and highly presentable condition.

  Each label is excellent. As expected there are some mild spindle traces adjacent to the centre whole but these are very mild and not immediately obvious; and on the the side B label there is a small 1.2cm score line situated at 1 o'clock on the swirl logo above the centre hole.

Mint

Description: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

Description: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packag­ing might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good

Description: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable sur­face marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

Description: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair 

Description: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for prop­erly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor

Description: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

Description: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
