[Due to a computer breakdown, and having to work from the L.A. Public Library, I was able only to post re-runs for the past six weeks! From now on, there will be only NEW listings, which I hope will deeply intrigue you.]
THE CASA LOMA ORCHESTRA aim for the Whiteman laurels, in this, their only twelve-inch record for Brunswick. They do a stellar concert arrangement-cum-jazz, of Hoagy Carmichael's "WASHBOARD BLUES." CONNIE BOSWELL gives one of her career-best performances, perhaps the finest vocal of this saga on record.
The flip side, "FOUR INDIAN LOVE LYRICS," depending on your perspective, is either a terrific original version of these venerable pieces, or a lot of pretentious, overarranged hooey. I tend toward the former assessment. The pieces are: "KASHMIRI LOVE SONG," "LESS THAN THE DUST," "THE TEMPLE BELLS," and "TILL I WAKE." "Kashmiri Love Song," otherwise known as "Pale Hands," was notoriously rendered by Rudolph Valentino on a different Brunswick record.
This original 1932 twelve-inch Brunswick 20108 is in splendid E condition. Plays great!

I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
