This is the soundtrack to the 1972 concert and film "Wattstax", performed at the Los Angeles Coliseum (100,000 people payed only $1 to attend) to commemorate the seventh anniversary of the 1965 LA Watts riots, with amazing performances by such soul / R& B stars like Isaac Hayes (it was August 20th, Hayes birthday), The Staple Singers, Carla Thomas, Rufus Thomas, The Bar-Kays, Albert King, Eddie Floyd, and The Soul Children. With the tag "Join us at the biggest recording session ever in the making of the greatest soul record ever", and with Jesse Jackson MC'ing much of it, the concert was extraordinarily successful with no violence, just an afternoon and evening full of Soul, R&B, Gospel and Jazz. See the movie (it won the Golden Globe that year for best documentary)! This copy is still sealed, so the vinyl inside is of course clean and shiny and brand new. The cover is in great shape, though there are a few small patches of either missing or torn shrink, and the corners are a bit bump bent worn. This is a gatefold double LP and includes live performances by Isaac Hayes at the peak of his powers. This will be by Media Mail, which is a bit slower but allows us to ship all US vinyl purchases FREE! We use official LP mailers with the record outside the cover, and in clean white sleeves separately from any photo inner sleeves. All vinyl is cleaned with an enzyme spray then finished with a SpinClean Machine. With sealed vinyl, please understand that we will only accept returns if the LP is still sealed, which is for our financial protection as well as yours.
