1970/UK/Polydor Records 2383-024….. here’s a clean original UK pressing of this rare Progressive lp. The fragile gatefold cover is in VG+ condition, there is light partial ring wear, light corner and seam wear, light wear on the spine, light shelf wear, small initials top left rear corner, otherwise this cover is clean and solid with no splits. The vinyl appears to be in in glossy M- condition. The record looks glossy clean only a handful of near invisible very shallow sleeve scuffs from removal. Deep gloss black vinyl shines. The record plays great with occasional light noise/crackle way in the back for the most part, some crackle at cue-into the start of the track and between tracks. Excellent rich fidelity! I don't see any reason that this record makes some noise as it appears so clean. It could possibly be inherent in this pressing or could maybe be cleaned up with a real good deep cleaning. I recorded one side directly from the record being sold, no filters were used. A solid original UK pressing! Please check my listings for other prog, psych and rock lp’s. John L. Watson was replaced at the keyboards by Dave Lawson. The new-look Web released the group's third and final album, I Spider, in 1970. It was also their best, bringing to fruition the group's sound and leaving behind the rather stumbling genre experimentations of yesteryear. Moving strongly into progressive rock, the band strode far afield from the psychedelic meanderings they'd undertaken on their last set, Theraphosa Blondi. Lawson's fabulous organ playing was now the band's fulcrum, filling the album with rich and (especially on the title track) haunting atmospheres, as well as providing a fixed point from which the rest of the band could swoop off in their own directions. If "I Spider" is the album's most evocative track, the epic set opener "Concerto for Bedsprings" is its most magnificent. Its passages shift in moods and style, with the jazz-inspired "Sack Song" section particularly impressive, while the aggressive "You Can Keep the Good Life" is as hard-edged as any punk-fueled no wave band. Dramatic shifts in dynamic also drive "Love You," another showcase for horn player Tom Harris, with John Eaton's vicious, buzzing bassline powering the whole second half of the piece and providing furious encouragement to Tony Edwards' fuzz-drenched guitar. That number lies in the rock realm; "Ymphasomniac" leans toward jazz fusion but has unusually tasty bongos and percussion solos as well. And that is the glory of this album, as most of the songs comprise two diametrically opposed halves, cleverly brought together either with a crash or with an inspired middle passage. The set's final track, "Always I Want," follows this pattern to perfection, as Lawson bemoans his lack of luck with the ladies, his rather crude lyrics hilariously at odds to the sophistication of the music itself. The group went out on a high with this superb set. Although Web disappeared soon after, the other members did not, swiftly returning under their new moniker, Samurai.

MINT: as stated with no defects

NEAR MINT: as stated near Mint!, or Mint Minus, same thing, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean

EXCELLENT: not much below near Mint, may have a delete hole and/or a minor defect or two not visually detracting from the cover, the vinyl will appear shiny and in clean condition with very minor defects not affecting the sound, still very clean and very collectable!

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal cover wear and/or delete/splits, still visually appealing, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much

VG+ a little more cover/ring wear and delete, splits etc., the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects, both cover and vinyl no matter the condition.
