Weird sound collage with voices & various noises from austrian composer Werner Pirchner, released privately, comes inside a one of a kind silkscreened triple unfolding cover.
Some info on the release: Bloody rare private issue, released in Austria in the early 70's, original 1st pressing with red labels. This was Pirchner's debut album (or to be precise half double album) and by far his most "experimental" output. Coming with a special triple-unfolding cover with rice papers in the inside, entirely silkscreened, a really deluxe production & a piece of art (see photo). Pirchner makes a really obscure album with many small pieces in form of songs, which are interrupted by cut ups/tape collages, voices, musics or noises. Subtitled : "Was wir uber das Leben nach dem tode wissen & fast 22 andere lieder" (What we after death know about life and almost 22 other songs). Highest recommendation and a must to discover. Has been compared to early Max Goldt and a "hippie" version of Die Todliche Doris. Here is one of the only references i found for it on the web, it is described like this: "totally stoned anstrian psychedelic folk in Witthüser-Westrup realms. Whispering vocals, effects, guitars, real out-there vibe. Comes in beautiful triple foldout cover. Never seen one of these before."
Werner Pirchner (* 13 February 1940 - 10 August 2001) was an Austrian composer and jazz musician. He was born in Hall in Tirol, and had his musical start playing jazz. In 1963 he played vibraphone in the Oscar-Klein-Quartett. The last 15 years of his life he worked as a composer only. In 1973, his first tape was published. In 1974, he composed the music for the film Der Untergang des Alpenlandes. In 1975, Bert Breit invited him to compose the film music about Tyrol, for which he composed the "Streichquartett für Bläserquintett", PWV 15. In Austria Prichner was well-known, since he composed the "Sounddesign" for the ORF-culture radio Ö1 in 1994. In 1995, he composed the music for Hofmannsthals Jedermann at the Salzburger Festspiele. Pirchner has also releases on ECM New Series, Ego Records, Mood Records in collaborations with Harry Pepl, Todd Canedy, Adelhard Roidinger, Jack DeJohnette, Vienna Art Orchestra, etc.
Condition: Vinyl lies in very good- condition, has many small marks and plays with a quite annoying crackle all along, while cover lies in very good+(+) condition with light age wear and small bend.
