1967 Original still SEALED Psych Compilation...rarely seen still sealed
Cool California hippie flavor-drenched Original 1967 release on the small Vault label, screams Summer of Love and features three bands with the happening sounds of 1967 - The Peanut Butter Conspiracy (pre-signing with Columbia), The Ashes and The Chamber Brothers. This is the rarer stereo issue.
This West Coast Garage/Psych artifact includes Rare, Exclusive tracks.
Several of the songs are unique to this release, not issued elsewhere.
The cover art is by future FILLMORE, AVALON Ballrooms poster designer/artist: Rick Griffin, with wife Ida Griffin
 ... as classic an example of "Summer Of Love" art as you are going to find anywhere. It features a hippie-folk couple lounging in a very swirly, psychedelic nature scene, resplendent in their Indian-influenced attire, recorder and hash pipe in hand, while the title and names of the artists swirl in Griff’s early Barnum & Bailey style letters above them. On the back cover are articles from the Los Angeles Free Press on the early Love-Ins. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
4 tracks each by The Ashes and The Peanut Butter Conspiracy - great examples of Hippie Psych-Folk-Rock / Garage Rock mixed with West Coast flavors and Vibe. The remaining 4 cuts by The Chambers Brothers are bluesy, Psyched-up Soul. 
At the time, in 1967, many people from the older generation actually thought this music was dangerous, rebellious, and revolutionary ...when actually it's just good, fun-lovin' Peace & Love hippies doin' their thing...The Ashes broke up and morphed into The Peanut Butter Conspiracy who had a cool and pretty big West Coast hit in "It's A Happening Thing" ... their first two of three total albums are very worthwhile collectibles noted as much for the great vocals by lead singer, Barbara Robison

... also of note, The Ashes drummer is Spencer Dryden who went on to be the drummer for JEFFERSON AIRPLANE in their important sixties years... and these rare early Chambers Bros. tracks are priceless - showing the strong beginnings of Psych-Soul, with their solid, authentic soul punch getting very hip - leading up to their massive hit “TIME HAS COME TODAY”, released later that same year - 1967.

who was a DJ at the Radio Station I co-founded in the 1970's - and who worked for me at my California record store in the '70s and '80s.
Sadly he has now finally left this mortal coil, bequeathing me his deep Vinyl Mine.
