Offering here a 46 year old poster from the original Australian stage prodction of
WEST SIDE STORY
at the
Princess Theatre Melbourne.
This BIG, wonderful old poster was from the heavy card lot, produced for propping up in shop windows, as it is printed on thick cardboard.
It has a very neat fold accross the centre.
I visited Melbourne not long after the production ended, in 1962 and found this poster still sitting in a Barber shop window. ( Hence the fold, to get it back to Sydney.)
The size is 100cm x 72cm. It features the original Broadway poster/record cover image of Tony and Maria. It is in fabulous condition and is a wonderful reminder of the incredible impact that this ground breaking production had on the Music Theatre scene in the late 1950's.
