Description

"Milenberg Joys" b/w "Ragtime Annie," two hot sides by W. Lee O'Daniel & his Light Crust Doughboys. O'Daniel's name was left off this record for some reason. "Milenberg" features one of the first hot fiddle solos in western swing, played by Kenneth Pitts. "Annie" is a tour de force for breakdown fiddle Clifford "Doc" Gross. Recorded in April 1935 and issued on black-and-gold Vocalion 03032. Condition is V+. Light scratches and rub marks, minor surface noise, but plays well without much intrusion. Most of these early western swing titles are worn through, but this one has survived 80 years in pretty decent shape. Very few of these have been offered for auction. Domestic shipping is $5.00 not $4.00. (ebay will not permit anything higher. They don't have a clue about what it costs to properly pack and ship a fragile 78 rpm record).
