"WHALE (FL) All Keyed Up! 197 (no label W-500) What do you get when you cross a mega-babe singer with an oaf who thinks he’s the world’s hottest guitar player? Whale. Picture a latter-day Jade Stone & Luv relocating to Florida, then trying to decide to become a disco band or a country bar band or hardrockers. They decide to become all three, and add a sexy female lounge singer, along with a drummer who occasionally thinks he’s Keith Moon and the aforementioned guitarist who thinks he’s doing heavy metal. The LP consists of 13 original songs, all written by that would-be guitar whiz Fred Bye, not one of which sounds like any other song on the record. You get all the styles above plus more. No label name, but Freddie calls his music entity Phaze Boost Recording. [MA]"
