Description
This is Decca 88185, the original 78 rpm record with A Whale of a Tale on the A side, and And the Moon Grew Brighter and Brighter on the B side, sung by Kirk Douglas and the Mellowmen.
The original sleeve is illustrated with a montage from the 1954 Walt Disney movie.
The record is good only (I'm being very conservative): it has surface rubs and scratches, and although it plays without any skips, there are frequent crackles. See the pics above.
The uncommon sleeve is very good, with one small flaw: there is an old, very light price mark (1oo) written in pencil across Kirk Douglas' neck on one side (only). I was able to erase this to some extent, but it's still noticeable (see pic above). I don't know, but it's possible this was an original store price marking (it would have been close to $1.00 in 1954). The sleeve is otherwise complete and intact, with a few very small edge tears, and bright and distinct colors.
