Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. The 2nd album by THE MC5, is loaded to the hilt with powerful rock'n'roll numbers, infectious jams that GROW with repeat listens ...tough straight ahead drivers ...moving the body & soul... The recurring theme which drives Back in the USA is adolescence, its reminiscences alternately fond and embittered — while killer power-rock'n'roll cuts like "Tonight," "Teenage Lust," "High School," and "Shakin' Street" celebrate youth in all its rebellious glory, others like the kick-ass "The American Ruse" and the buzz-sawing "Human Being Lawnmower" condemn a system which eats its young, filling their heads with lies before sending them off to war. LP High-point is "Looking At You", an unsurpassed monster of total-assault intensity! Equally gripping is the record's singular sound — with an almost complete disregard for the bottom end, Back in the USA captures a live-wire intensity 180 degrees removed from the group's live sound yet perfectly suited to the material at hand, resulting in music which not only salutes the power of rock & roll but also reaffirms it. Producer Jon Landau's distaste for the rough psychedelic rock movement aimed his central focus of the album was to try and get the band away from the raw, thrashy sound pioneered and captured on their first release Kick Out the Jams. This was an impossible task due to the 5's explosive intensity, but they were refined due to studio mixing board fiddling. It was unfortunate that Atlantic Records hired a goofball psuedo producer, [but] overall it was impossible to top the in-concert exuberance of their debut, Kick Out the Jams ... so the MC5 re-emerged with their first studio record with the music is still being very comparable to other Detroit kick-ass rockers of the same era (the Stooges, Alice Cooper, etc.).

As with the aforementioned peers, raw garage rock serves as the main ingredient for most of Back in the USA. Producer Jon Landau may have lessened the volatility of the MC5 as compared to JAMS, but the band was equipped with another great set of songs. Two covers bookend Back in the USA - an uptempo reading of Little Richard's rock & roll standard "Tutti Frutti" kicks things off in fine fashion, while the album-closing title track was originally done by Chuck Berry. The original material ranges from the total assault of "The Human Being Lawnmower" to the heartfelt soul ballad "Let Me Try," a surprise highlight.

Nervy, high-octane rockers bristling with pure adolescent energy--"Teenage Lust" and "Call Me Animal," among them--balance politically charged tracks like "The American Ruse." Back in the USA may have been the MC5's most conventional album, but it is still an endlessly listenable rock & roll classic. Hard as nails Detroit anarchist jammers, and the result is one of the great rock 'n' roll albums of all time!
