WHEN I GET MY BONUS by Peetie Wheatstraw 1936 Decca Bonus Army/March

DESCRIPTION  Decca 7159 in VG condition, with Peetie Wheatstraw singing "When I Get My Bonus," and "Coon Can Shorty."
 
 The first song refers to the long-awaited payment of the bonus to WWI veterans to make up for the much higher wages paid to essential industrial workers who didn't have to go to France. The bonus was to be paid in 1945 but after the onset of the Great Depression, vets spontaneously descended on Washington in 1932 to advocate for legislation to have it paid early. The bill failed and the encampment was burned to the ground by troops under the command of Douglass MacArthur. But in 1936 the bonus was paid.

I'm not a professional record grader. I make a judgment of the condition of the record based on a visual inspection and having been played on my Esoteric transcription turntable. Please understand that the grade I assign is subjective.
         
      E+  "Excellent plus." Minimal  effects of age. Slightly  surface noise, clicks, pops  etc.
      E  "Excellent." Some slight evidence of age or handling (fine  scratches, scuffs, rubs). Minimal groove wear. May show some very minor grey  traces in grooves.
      E-  "Excellent minus." Very close to "E" but with slightly more  wear from handling and age.
      VG+ "Very  good plus." Obvious wear, but not excessive. Slightly more surface noise. Not as choice as the higher grades, but what one would expect of a  record that was actually used for many  years. And can be still quite enjoyable.
      VG "Very  Good." As "very good" implies the record will still play quite  well. However, there is more wear and  tear than with "VG+" grade. There is moderate surface noise.
      G "Good." Serviceable but not great. Quite a bit of wear.
