Description
Here is a VERY scarce record by "The Washingtonians," a.k.a. DUKE ELLINGTON AND HIS COTTON CLUB ORCHESTRA: "WHO SAID 'IT'S TIGHT LIKE THAT'?"
It's by a selected nontet from the band: COOTIE WILLIAMS and ARTHUR WHETSEL (trumpet), BARNEY BIGARD (clarinet), JOHNNY HODGES (alto sax), FRED GUY (banjo), SONNY GREER (drums) WELLMAN BRAUD (bass) and of course, DUKE ELLINGTON (piano.)
"TIGER RAG" by THE COTTON PICKERS is on the flip, with virtues of its own. Top players like JIMMY McPARTLAND (cornet), JACK TEAGARDEN (trombone), JIMMY DORSEY (alto sax) take part, guaranteeing a Modicum of Hotness.
This original 1929 Cameo 9195 is in somewhat beat VV- condition, but still delivers. Weathering and scratches, most of which are on "Tiger Rag."

I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!
