Pete Townshend (vocals, guitar, cello, penny whistle) / John Entwistle (vocals, trumpet, bass) / Roger Daltrey (vocals, trombone) / Keith Moon (drums)... (Producer : Kit Lambert) ...

Principally recorded at IBC Studios, Pye Studios and Regent Sound, London, England in 1966... A pivotal album in the early career of The Who ! ...'A QUICK ONE' is the bridge between the band's original incarnation as a hard rockin' mod pop group and its subsequent, more ambitious, experimental phase... The album is also notable because it's centerpiece, "A Quick One, While He's Away," represents Pete Townshend's first attempt at "rock opera" ! ...a form which he and The Who would later perfect on TOMMY and QUADROPHENIA ! The ten-minute track contains all the elements of the trademark Who style ; complex arrangements and vocal harmonies, alternating heavy electric and light acoustic passages and a preoccupation with issues of morality and sexuality. Also interesting is the fact that A QUICK ONE includes, in addition to several Townshend masterpieces, one Roger Daltrey tune and two excellent songs each from both John Entwistle and Keith Moon. The Entwistle-penned tracks ( ' Whiskey Man ' and ' Boris the Spider ' ) are among his best and introduced fans for the first time to the virtuoso bassist's dark, twisted sense of humor. Although prior to the release of  ' A QUICK ONE ' The Who had several hit singles ...it was, however, this album that put the music world on notice that Townshend and the lads were far more than simply a high energy rock & roll band !!!!! ...(ROCK ON !!!)...

(Sleeve - The respectable 'laminated' Sleeve has maintained it's bright vibrant colours ! ...There is no edge wear, no spine wear, no corner wear and only a few small mild 'laminate' creases / There is no writing anywhere, no feathering or wear to the opening edge, no seam splits, no tears, no disfiguring marks and the 'laminate' is completely intact ; these comments apply to both the front and rear of the sleeve ! ...As such, the sleeve must grade as being at least Excellent condition but is probably best described as being in EX+ condition !) /

The Vinyl is in EX.(or EX+) condition ...

(Vinyl - The vinyl is clean and maintains it's original shine and luster ; under a bright lightbulb there's only the slightest and lightest of wispy light hairline marks which are superficial, fairly insignificant and don't affect the play or sound quality ; the play is excellent and it has clearly been a well looked after album - there are no pops, no sticking, no hiss, no distortion, no bad crackle and no groove wear... As such, the vinyl must grade as being in at least Excellent condition... (no problems - it plays clearly and as it should ; overall enjoyable listening !) ...
