True to its title, "Seven Minutes of Funk" rolls a full pleasurable seven. The August Moon and Tyrone Thomas composition and production escaped the attention of many because of very limited airplay but you owe it to yourself to seek this one out. Hard to find on many, or any, CDs, but the original 45 and the album can be unearthed with some effort. The 1976 funk/jazz fusion piece demonstrates the racially mixed self-contained band's ability to lock a groove and improvise on the top. Joel Smither's flute and Woody Hughes' bass are the prominent players on this Soul International release. The Whole Damn Family's masters are owned by the still viable Amherst Records.
