WICKED LADY – The Axeman Cometh. Guerssen GUESS 187. Spanish release FACTORY SEALED NEW TWO-RECORD ALBUM SET. Originally recorded between 1969 and 1972. First issued in 1993 on the Kissing Spell label. This edition issued in 2021. Comes in a heavy board stock gatefold cover with an insert containing lyrics and liner notes by Martin Weaver. DESCRIPTION: Available again (again)!! Here's the first volume (of 2) of the Wicked Lady collection, a lavish double vinyl of The Axeman Cometh. This 2021 edition features a deluxe gatefold cover.
If you are looking for raw, psychedelic hard-rock, look no further! We present the complete recordings (1969-1972) from Wicked Lady, the legendary UK underground power trio lead by ace guitarist Martin Weaver, later a member of Dark on their Round The Edges album (now available on CD and usually found in my listings). This line-up was notorious for their outrageous live performances often refusing to stop playing or walking off stage mid-number leaving equipment to feedback until someone killed the power. They had a large biker following (not unlike Pink Fairies) and several venues were trashed all in the name of fun. Drink and drugs caused the band to split for a while in 1970 to “get their heads together.” Mastered for maximum sound quality, this edition features some new artwork and a liner note insert by doomy psychedelic guitar God, Martin Weaver, who tells the real (and bizarre!) story behind Wicked Lady for the first time. The stuff of legends, this is a real fest of fuzz, wah-wah, and heavy riff guitar that will blow the mind of any hard-psych collector. For those of you unfamiliar with the Wicked Lady recordings, I’d recommend starting with this volume and if you find it to your liking then go for the Psychotic Overkill volume.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers with inside packing.

These items are placed inside of a clear poly outer sleeve upon their receipt by me

MIX: This sometimes appears in my title line and refers to a group's/artist's music having a mix of styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the album's tracks having predominantly one style.
