Rare original 1957 demo copy of The Wilbur Ware Quartet's Chicago Sound LP on Riverside RLP-12-252. Demonstration copy from LA's legendary Music City record store. The disc has some marks and scuffs but it plays quite nicely most of the time, with some light crackle here and there, but often none at all. Really not bad. The opening track on side two, Lullaby of the Leaves, which is essentially one long bass solo, has a scratch in it that makes it skip several times on my system. Other than that there are no skips or even loud pops. A little more crackle on side one than two, but still thoroughly enjoyable. The cover has the demonstration sticker on the front and an "OK" written on the back, and also has some wear. The edges and corners are somewhat worn, with a slight split at the top center where the disc touches the edge, and a bit of a beginning of one at the bottom center, and less so at the center of the spine. The upper right corner has a 1" seam split as well. Some fraying here and there on the outer paper art the edges, most notably on the back at the upper center. Also a touch of staining on the back. Still the cover is quite shiny and striking, strongly intact, with a fully readable spine.
A very nice original copy despite the wear.
