THE WILD TCHOUPITOULAS – The Wild Tchoupitoulas. Jackpot JPR 062. FACTORY SEALED NEW VINYL RECORD ALBUM. Originally issued in 1976 on Island Records. This edition issued in 2020. Sourced from the original master tapes. Pressed on audiophile vinyl. Comes with hype sticker on the front of the shrink wrap. The Wild Tchoupitoulas:  George Landry (Big Chief Jolly), Amos Landry (Spy Boy), Carl Christmas (Flag Boy), Booker Washington (Trail Chief), and Norman Bell (Second Chief). MUSICIANS:  Arthur Neville (keyboards), Leo Nocentelli (guitar), George Porter, Jr. (bass), Joseph Modeliste (drums), Cyril Neville (congo), Teddy Royal (guitar), Aaron Neville (piano), and Charles Neville (percussion).

DESCRIPTION:  The Wild Tchoupitoulas were originally a group of Mardi Gras Indians formed in the early 1970s by George "Big Chief Jolly" Landry. Landry, with his, Autochthon American (Choctaw) heritage, had been an active performer in the Mardi Gras Indian styling for a number of years. The group is named after the Tchoupitoulas tribe who also gave their name to Tchoupitoulas Street. With help from local New Orleans musicians The Meters, The Wild Tchoupitoulas recorded this eponymous album, which features the "call-and-response" style chants typical of Mardi Gras Indians. Vocals were provided by Landry, as well as other members of his Mardi Gras tribe. Instrumentation was provided in part by members of the Meters. The album also notably featured Landry's nephews, the Neville Brothers, providing harmonies and some of the instrumentation. The album was produced by famed New Orleans writer-musician-producer Allen Toussaint and Marshall E. Sehorn. While not a financial success, the album and The Wild Tchoupitoulas' style was well received critically. It was the coming together on this project that encouraged the four Neville brothers to continue performing as a group.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers with inside packing.

These items are placed inside of a clear poly outer sleeve upon their receipt by me

MIX:  This sometimes appears in my title line and refers to a group's/artist's music having a mix of styles such a rock track with jazz then followed by a straight rock track followed by a psych rock track, etc., as opposed to a blues album with the album's tracks having predominantly one style.

U.S. Shipping: 

$4.90 via USPS Media Mail for the first single LP or double disc LP set (excluding box sets); this also includes tracking. Check your eBay Purchases folder for tracking and shipping information.

$1.25 for each additional single LP set and/or

$1.50 for each additional double LP set.

All US packages are processed for shipping via eBay and include a tracking number. Check your purchases folder to monitor your tracking.

INTERNATIONAL Shipping:  

I ship worldwide. All packages are shipped using eBay Standard International Delivery service except for Canada for which I ship via USPS First Class Package International Service. Shipping on multiple item purchases is based on weight at the current rate.
