WILD THING ONE OF A KIND ACETATE 12" LP

This ONE OF A KIND acetate seems to be for their second album on Polydor. It's the same track listing but I am unclear if it is the same takes and mixes that appear on the Polydor LP (Polydor 2489 013). This features two tracks written by Lee Michaels. There probably are probably only a handful of these in existence or perhaps this is the only one.

The jacket states that Elektra as the label and that Peter K Siegel was handling production. It is dated May 7, 1970 and marked as "Pre-master from acetate. Not completed". This acetate was cut at Sterling Sound in New York. The labels feature typed text.

The Wild Thing were a conceptional biker group conceived by Jac Holtzman, head of Elektra Records. The group consisted of Poncho Vidal (guitar), Patrick Mitchell (bass-vocal), Jesse P. Brock (organ-vocals) and Dennis Ianntelli (drums). Their debut LP was on Elektra was an album of well played and exciting cover versions of their day: Steppenwolf, Iron Butterfly, etc. 

Elektra was planning to release their second album but for some reason they dropped the band. Their INCREDIBLE follow up came out on Polydor in '70 and it's a KILLER ALBUM with a heavy, groovy Steppenwolf feel to it. It's a obscure biker rock/bluesy psych album that is filled with gems. This item for auction seems to be an acetate for this album.

TRACKS:

CONDITION: 

Side A shows some visible but faint hairline scratches that do not cause skips. There is some audible surface noise at the beggining for the A-side but this is quite common for any acetate that is this old. Side B looks about the same. There are a few faint hairline scratches that are not a big deal. Every track on the record plays without skippage but with some minor surface noise except track 1 on the flipside. There are a few skips in this track. This may not be an issue if a proper cleaning of this disc is done. Obviously this is such a unique item that this may not also matter to you at all as you'll probably never see this again.

The jacket has some slight wear, tape on the spine where there is a split, and some slight seem splits on the top and bottom.
