Description
William Ackerman- The Search For The Turtle's Navel LP. This is the first pressing from 1976 before Windham Hill took off, this was indeed, at the time, a private pressing.
Very nice small press edition, looks to be screen printed on a hardstock type material, with the pouch for the record folded and stapled into place.
Cover is VG+, some wear and tearing to upper half of spine, the artists name and part of the title are missing. Other than that, just some minor corner-wear and 2 strips of colored tape on bottom of spine (look easily removed with some care.
Vinyl is NM, glossy and clean with some scattered sleeve-burn and 1 or 2 very light and shallow hairlines. Looks and plays fantastic.
Labels are nice and clean with just a touch of spindle-wear and I and II written in blue ink on side 1 and 2.

Here is a description borrowed from another sellers completed auction, I think he/she says it all better than I can.
"This is the first pressing of the very first LP by Will Ackerman; in fact the very first recording on his newborn Windham Hill label. (His cousin Alex DeGrassi would come next). At this point Will had absolutely no idea of the huge success that was ahead of him with the label; he simply wanted to put out his own music. His genre defining guitar style brought major attention to the burgeoning "new acoustic" movement. To his everlasting chagrin, his, and his soon-to-be labelmates' recordings would be lumped in with the "new age" phenomenon; though he has always disowned that title. (But as his friend, George Winston's records on the label became million sellers, the public forever lumped all the Windham Hill artists together.)
This LP is solidly in the Fahey/Basho/Kottke school of steel string acoustic guitar playing. As his earliest work, it hews closest to those roots of all his LPs.
The front and back cover as well as the custom "Turtle's Navel" label only appeared on this earliest edition of the LP. All other WH releases, as well as subsequent pressings of this LP, carried the well-known Windham Hill logo label and graphic style."
