Iconic Paramore singer and solo artist Hayley Williams has taken control of destiny and set up own label Post Atlantic (a direct reference to her contract coming to an end with Atlantic Records after 20 years). The generation-defining singer's first release on this new indie imprint - with distribution from Secretly - is this third solo album: Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party. Collaborating with Australian pop producer Daniel James (Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, Miley Cyrus), the sound is a blend of the punk rock DNA with chart pop aesthetics. 'Parachute' has flashes of nu metal yet for the most part works around a widescreen earworm of a chorus. 'Ice In My OJ' has a hip-hop beat intro with pared back vocals before Muse-esque operatic riffs come swarming in. Clearly ill afraid to use the structure of a pop song to switch between genres, this is testament to the versatility of Hayley Williams and her esteemed collaborators.
