WILLIE NELSON Shotgun Willie 2009 Set Of 3 Test Pressings RTI 180g Vinyl LPs
Willie Nelson - Shotgun Willie (RTI)
Set of three 2009 test pressings of 180-gram reissue LP issued by Rhino Records. Plain white covers have catalog number and production date stamped on front at top right corner. The first disc has a production date of "May 21 2009," the second disc has a production date of "July 24 2009," and the third disc has a production date of "August 14 2009". The third disc also has a catalog number ending in "A/BRE". We don't know why this album had to be recut twice, but the disc dated July 24th has a post-it note attached to it that says "Re-cut (side B still bad)" which leads us to believe something in the mastering or the cutting wasn't quite right. Whether the first two discs are sonically different from the approved third version is unknown, as all three discs are still factory sealed in their original loose perforated plastic bags.
It's very hard to find a set of test pressings like this that show the different stages and quirks of the LP production process. A must-own for Willie Nelson and/or test pressing completists!
