WINGS OF STEEL - Winds of Time (LIM. 400 BLACK LP*US MELODIC POWER METAL)
High Roller Records 2025 - Brandnew black vinyl, ltd 400, 425gsm heavy cardboard cover, lyric sheet
Anyone who likes hard rock and traditional heavy metal should definitely remember the name Wings Of Steel. The Americans are one of the hottest newcomers in this field.
Wings Of Steel began when singer Leo Unnermark and guitarist/bassist Parker Halub met while studying music in Los Angeles. They shared a common vision and similar musical tastes. In 2019, they began writing songs together. Wings Of Steel's first, self-titled EP will be released in 2022.
"There are many different influences that shape our sound," reveals singer Leo Unnermark, without going into too much detail. "The music speaks for itself; it's hard to describe in words. Some adjectives I would describe us are: epic, heavy, classic yet contemporary, bluesy, energetic, unique."
Following the aforementioned EP, Wings Of Steel's first full-length album will follow in 2023. "Gates Of Twilight" was once again released independently. In 2024, the band established contact with High Roller Records and signed a licensing agreement.
"Gates Of Twilight" received consistently positive reviews in the music press, especially in continental Europe, where the German magazine Rock Hard admiringly described Leo Unnermark's vocals as a cross between Geoff Tate and Bruce Dickinson.
All songs on the brand-new album "Winds Of Time" were written by Halub and Unnermark. Leo Unnermark on vocals, and Parker Halub on guitar and bass, both of whom form the backbone of Wings Of Steel, played drums by Damien Rainaud, who also mixed and mastered "Winds Of Time." As with previous releases, Halub and Unnermark also produced the new album. "Winds Of Time" was written, recorded, and produced in California between September and November 2024.
"Winds of Time isn't a flawless concept album," Unnermark explains when asked, "but all the songs share a common approach. We examine the current state of the world, marked by war, tyranny, oppression, but also solidarity, hope, and peace. Musically, the album is broad, with each individual composition possessing its own identity. 'Winds of Time' is something of a key song on the album; musically and lyrically, it defines the tempo and structure of the record."
