Description
From my own personal collection I am pleased to offer a lovely example of the iconic third studio album by the mighty WISHBONE ASH titled “ARGUS”, Catalogue Number MDKS 8006. This is an ORIGINAL 1972 UK STEREO 1st PRESSING on the BLUE AND BLACK 'HEXAGON' MCA RECORD LABEL, with a superb 1st ISSUE un-laminated ROBERT STACE gatefold sleeve. Complete with the correct blue and white Decca inner sleeve. [The matrix numbers are the earliest 7-LNMG-256-1L and 7-LNMG-257-1L].
The sleeve is in EX+ condition with only very light wear and barely any creasing. The front and back covers are unmarked and the spine is square and solid with perfect text.
The top quality MCA record (pressed by Decca) is visually in between VG and EX condition although this visual grade does not do it justice. It’s a nice mid-weight pressing with a smooth rounded rim edge. Both sides show only a few superficial sleeve-removal type hairlines under bright light. The blue and black hexagon labels are unmarked with only a few short spindle traces near the centres. The sound quality of these MCA stereo 1st pressings is exceptional. Playback is very loud-cut and vibrant with the guitar tones in particular having great clarity. Both sides of this cherished vinyl play perfectly with no deterioration in sound quality and barely any unwanted noise at all. Please don't be put off by the visual grading - the record really does play to a very high standard.
The correct blue and white poly-lined Decca inner sleeve has a short tear to one opening edge but is otherwise in very good condition.
Overall this is a superb 1st press copy which plays excellently throughout.
GRADINGS
The records that I offer for sale have been critically play-graded, at loud volume, on a Rega P5 turntable fitted with an Elys 2 cartridge. I will only sell records that play to a high standard. My gradings are strict and in accordance with the following descriptions:
· MINT- Record is superb, almost like new, with just a few sleeve removal type surface marks and no deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve is near perfect in all respects.
· EX Record is a top quality example, with just a few very light surface marks which do not sound, and barely any discernable deterioration in sound quality. Sleeve has slight wear and/or creasing.
· VG Record has some visual surface marks, but still plays to a high standard without any major deterioration in sound quality – just a few clicks or light surface sound in places. Sleeve has normal wear and tear without any major defects but is still very presentable.
PACKAGING
LPs are packaged with care and well protected to ensure that they arrive safely in the same condition as they leave me. Records are removed from both inner and outer sleeves in order to prevent seam-splits in transit.
