WISHBONE ASH "Argus" 1972 UK MCA 1st PRESSING Nr MINT
Black/Blue Labels, R Stace Soft GF Sleeve, SUPERB AUDIO
WISHBONE ASH
Argus
HERE WE HAVE A SUPERB, UK MCA (MKPS 2014) VERY FIRST PRESSING (May 1972) OF WISHBONE ASH'S CLASSIC THIRD LP, "Argus" WHICH SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING
Argus is the most popular Wishbone Ash album and widely considered the greatest by fans and reviewers. It was named "Album of the Year" in the 1972 year-end issue of Sounds magazine and features a blend of progressive rock, folk, and heavy metal. The LP is considered a landmark album in the progression of twin-lead guitar harmonization later adopted by many other bands
THIS COPY PLAYS WITH TREMENDOUS AUDIO QUALITY THROUGHOUT AND HAS NONE OF THE USUAL SURFACE NOISE/CLICKING SO OFTEN FOUND DURING ITS MANY QUIETER ACOUSTIC PASSAGES - IT SOUNDS SENSATIONAL
THE AUDIO IS TOP QUALITY THROUGHOUT - CRISP, CLEAN AND VIBRANT - NEAR MINT
THE WIDE SPINE GATEFOLD SLEEVE IS CLEAN, FRESH AND SHARP - EXCELLENT+
PRESSED ON QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL (with a smooth outer rim and much thicker than the later pressings) WITH DEEP CUT GROOVES WHICH DELIVER ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING AUDIO, THE VINYL HAS THE FIRST ISSUE (SMALL) BLACK/BLUE MCA LABELS
FIRST PRESS MATRIX: 7-LNMG-256-1L / 7-LNMG-257-1L WITH THE EARLIEST MOTHERS/STAMPERS: 1/G, 1/G
AND IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL MATTE, GATEFOLD SLEEVE "Printed and made in England by Robert Stace", COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL BLUE STEREO DECCA COMPANY INNER SLEEVE
THIS REALLY IS A TREMENDOUS VERY FIRST UK PRESSING OF A WONDERFUL LP WITH THE VERY FIRST 1L/1L MATRIX, EARLIEST 1G,1G MOTHERS AND STAMPERS, BLUE/BLACK LABELS, BEAUTIFUL SLEEVE AND SENSATIONAL AUDIO AND I THINK A FINER COPY WOULD BE VERY HARD TO LOCATE INDEED
Track Listing:
Side 1: Time Was / Sometime World / Blowin' Free
Side 2: The King Will Come / Leaf And Stream / Warrior / Throw Down The Sword
LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO unwanted marks/writing and only light spindle evident when angled under a bright light. BEAUTIFUL, EXTREMELY WELL CARED FOR COPY
VINYL Visual: The vinyl still retains its DEEP, LIKE-NEW, GLOSSY SHEEN and is UNMARKED
VINYL Audio: SENSATIONAL, CRYSTAL CLEAR, VERY SHARP and VERY STRONG audio reproduction. SUPERB DELIVERY THROUGHOUT. There are NO jumps, NO sticks, NO scratches, NO surface noise and barely any clicks/pops (really, hardly ANY). SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. Plays to an extremely high standard with GREAT CLARITY, NO groove-wear and NO distortion and must be very critically graded NEAR MINT. NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use strict RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page). BEAUTIFUL COPY
SLEEVE: The 1st issue THICK SPINE gatefold sleeve is in EXCELLENT+ condition - CLEAN, BRIGHT and FRESH. The spine is straight and true with all text CLEAR and BOLD and the edges are nice and SHARP with virtually NO wear at all. BEAUTIFUL SLEEVE
