British hard rock team Wishbone Ash's third studio release is reissued here in its original seven-track form. First released in 1972 and recorded at De Lane Lea in the heart of Soho, it captures the group's defining sound i a balance of dual-lead guitar arrangements, modal harmony, and restrained vocals, delivered with clarity and compositional control. 'Time Was' opens the record with a long acoustic section before shifting into full-band mode, setting the tone for the rest of the side. 'Sometime World' and 'Blowin' Free' follow similar patterns, trading complexity for structure and melodic interplay. On the second side, 'The King Will Come' and 'Warrior' stretch out more fully into folk-rock and proto-metal territory, while 'Leaf and Stream' offers a short, pastoral interlude. 'Throw Down the Sword' closes the set with an extended outro, bringing the recurring themes of conflict and release into focus. The production by Derek Lawrence, with Martin Birch on engineering, remains spacious and unembellished. The influence of these arrangements on later bands is well documented, but this edition offers a chance to revisit the original on its own terms i sharp, economical and surprisingly restrained.
