You used to see a fair few people with Wishbone Ash t-shirts on, back in the day at rock gigs. Less so now. Which is a big shame considering their contributions to jazz fusion, progressive rock, and a kind of hard folk rock & roll, utilising twin-lead guitar harmonisation that would later be adopted (with more commercial success) by the likes of Thin Lizzy and Judas Priest. Argus was their landmark in terms of that technique, and remains their most acclaimed and best-selling album. Not quite a concept record, nevertheless the heavy influences of Greek mythology and medieval lore certainly position it outside the usual mainstream contemporary record blueprint, and as a result arguably made the most significant contribution to the WA legacy.
