Bought from the collection of the late DJ Josh Makawa in Zimbabwe in February this year.
A genuinely exceptional Zamrock rarity. Movin’ On by WITCH is one of the cornerstone albums of the Zambian rock movement, but this copy is something altogether different — a Zimbabwe pressing, manufactured and circulated outside its original Zambian release.
Copies like this were produced in very small numbers for regional distribution, and far fewer survive today. This is the only copy i have found in over 20 years of dealing in African vinyl.
This example is further distinguished by its promotional “Not For Sale” marking, indicating it was likely issued to radio or industry insiders rather than sold commercially. Zimbabwe variants of Zamrock titles are scarcely documented and seldom appear on the market, making this an especially desirable piece for serious collectors.
With original Zambian pressings already highly sought after worldwide, obscure regional issues such as this represent the next tier of collectability — combining historical significance, scarcity, and unique provenance into one remarkable record.
Rhodesian / Zimbabwean sleeves were made from recycled board and as such are extremely crude and prone to wear.
