EARLY 1N/ 1N MASTER MATRICES 1963
RARE 1ST ERNEST J DAY MONO SLEEVE
CAT. NO PMC 1206
Format: Mono
This is a very early copy of With The Beatles
The vinyl is the first 1N/ 1N master matrices and comes in the first and rarer Ernest J Day printed and made sleeve i.e. the same style flip-backs as used for Please Please Me. The Side 2 label also has the miscredit of JOBETE Mus. NCB for the song title ‘Money’ which was quickly changed, and the label and sleeve have the incorrect ‘You Really Gotta Hold On Me’, which was quickly changed to the correct ‘You Really Got A Hold on Me’.
Sleeve: Original sleeve in a Very Good condition retaining its structure. No record ring-wear, and clean with no imprints. The laminate is still glossy and uncreased displaying an early print of the Fab Four in a dark contrast with dark shadows to the faces as found on these early sleeves. The spine is completely intact and has readable text, and the opening side is completely flat. There is some writing in biro to the rear panel in the top right corner and crease wear to the paper folds. All edges are intact.
Inner Sleeve: Original EMI inner sleeve. Retains full structure. Has the ‘Made in England’ text. This is early thick card material as opposed to the thinner paper material. Very Good Plus condition with some slight age discolouration. Completely intact.
The Vinyl: In Very Good Plus Condition. The surfaces are smooth and look groove wear free, an unblemished pressing shine on both sides. Has signs of being played, but with smooth clean shiny surfaces with no feelable scratches, scuffs, warps or dinks. Has light hairlines scattered in a few places on both sides but none at all feelable. The item has received fair use but has not been handled badly.
Lays completely flat on the turntable, heavyweight early Sixties vinyl.
The Labels: Very Good condition. Some visible wear to the spindle perimeter, and some light spindle location lines/ marks.

The Audio: An Excellent Minus sounding copy. Plays smoothly from start to finish on each side with immense detail and deep, warm mono channeling. This isn’t totally perfect, but it is remarkable how well it has lasted all these decades, with no interruption or defects over the audio. There is only what you would expect to be noticeable - some ticks here and there, but on the whole a neat sounding copy that is guaranteed not to disappoint. No crackle, jumps, skips, pops, or sticks.
