Description
16 Inch Radio Transcription Disc recorded by Universal Recording Company, New York City. Approximately 30 minutes this 16 inch, greenish / black lacquer acetate coated aluminum, 33 1/3 rpm disc. This disc was recorded for reference purposes only and not available to the general public, Very Rare!
"The Old Gold Show" starring Woody Herman & His Orchestra from September 27, 1944. This is the last half, approximately 14 minutes of the show. Woody Herman & His Orchestra perform "Right As The Rain" vocal Allan Jones, "Noah" vocal Woody Herman, "Thine Alone" vocal Allan Jones & Chorus. Includes a short spot by Red Barber about the baseball season, a commercial for Old Gold Cigarettes and the closing announcement
Raymond Scott & His Orchestra from September 27, 1944. Songs include "Salt Water Cowboy", "And Then You Kissed Me" vocal Dorothy Collins, "Send Me Your Love For Christmas" vocal Dorothy Collins, "What A Difference A Day Made". On the label it is indicated that this broadcast from 3:00 to 3:15, so I suspect this is complete. There is no opening announcement but the first song is complete. There is a closing theme but no announcer
The labels are typed on the back of Universal Recording Company labels. Raymond Scott was the owner of Universal Recording Company, so this disc may have been recorded at Raymond Scott's request. Both labels are loose and can be re attached to the disc if desired
I could not find any reference to any existing copy of this radio program in any online radio log or database
I am not exactly sure of the composition of this disc. It is aluminum based, and appears to be a greenish - black acetate coating
Disc is in Very Good or better condition with what appears to be some water damage that it visible in the photos. The sound on the Woody Herman side is Very Good or Better, the sound on the Raymond Scott side is Excellent-. Both sides have some light surface noise
Due to their size, 16 inch discs will not play on most standard turntables. For $10 I can include a CD transfer of the entire disc for the buyer
