Description

One of the most successful 1950s Musical Comedies in Canada was "MY FUR LADY". It's success across the country spawned one of the first ever Original Cast Albums in Canada, and later became an international collector's item.  The success of this show under the banner of McGill University's Red and White Revue promoted them to record the follow-up show which premiered January 25th, 1958. The Original Cast Recording is today even harder to find than MY FUR LADY, and this is my one and only copy. Book and lyrics by Christopher Dobson, Stan Hartt and Irving Wolfe. Music by Jerry Horovitch, Richard Notkin and Pierre Perron.  As MY FUR LADY was noted for the introduction of a composer later to become famous for "HAIR" (Galt MacDermot), "WRY AND GINGER" also has several later notables among the actors. They are LIANE MARSHALL, MARILYN LIGHTSTONE and PAUL HECHT.  Marshall and Lightstone found their successes in Canada mostly, but Hecht went on to Broadway where he was seen in THE ROTHSCHILDS and 1776. He also acheived distinction with his work in Canada, notably on Television and stage.  The titles of the selections included in the album are; MADLY MADLY MADLY MONTREAL, HOW ABOUT A HONEYMOON ON THE MOON, DOWN WITH VICE, GUARDIANS OF YOUR LIBERTY, DON'T FRET, WILDE WILDE WESTE, ONCE A YEAR IN CALGARY, TAKE FOR EXAMPLE ME, INDIAN RAG, DON'T BE SUSPICIOUS, HOW UGH AND UM, WOMEN!!, UP 'TILL NOW, TO HOLD MY LOVE, JAZZ SUITE and ON A SOUTHERN SHORE.  There's a complete synopsis of the story on the jacket as written by Director Gordon Atkinson.  The record is on the LAURENTIAN  label, record number CTM-6019.  (On the record jacket it is given a McGill nmber...MRS-LPM-7). Other than a number written at the top left hand corner of the jacket, it is in LIKE NEW condition.  Payment in U.S. dollars via money order, BidPay.com -now aka WESTERN UNION AUCTION PAYMENTS), cash or personal check.
