Description
This is first edition mono copy of "To My Queen" by Walt Dickerson, on the New Jazz Label 8283. Recorded by the fine engineer, Rudy Van Gelder in 1963, this album is a wonderful listen. Dickerson is as fine a soloist on Vibraphone as you will ever experience. There is some cosmetic wear on the album but I hear nothing that spoils or interferes with the performance. While I would grade the album at VG, you may find it even more enjoyable than the rating suggests. There is a small rip in the otherwise nice album cover so I would also rate that at VG.
Hand etched in runout grooves MJLP 8283 A-1 & MJLP 82283 B, and VAN GELDER stamped on both sides.
GRADING (Done visually, based on Goldmine)
Near Mint (NM or M-)
The record should show no obvious signs of wear and will be glossy/shiny. A sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling. No cracks, scratches or warps.
Excellent (EX or VG++)
One or two light marks visible on the disc at most, otherwise full gloss. No cracks, scratches or warps. Sleeve shows 1-2 marks, nothing too major, maybe at the edges.
Very Good Plus (VG+)
A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled.
Record surfaces may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Maybe also slight warps that do not affect the sound.
Sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly bent corners, or a slight seam split.
Very Good (VG)
Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during the intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers.
Good (G), Good Plus (G+)
A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise, scratches and groove wear.
