Record Comments:  This record was recorded in Hollywood at The American Legion Hall and includes a variety of instrumental and vocal arrangements from Cinderella and Bambi.  The record cover appears to have two front covers, with an inner sleeve containing the traditional back-cover contents.

About the 1956-1957 WDL series of Disney soundtrack LP's: Disney's short-lived WDL series of beautifully packaged soundtracks for their classic cartoon features had premiered by 1956, and were marketed to the 'adult' cast and soundtrack market. Each release was a full-length album that featured not only the original song performances from the cartoon feature-films, but also the overtures and abundant cues of interlude orchestrations. Once this series was deleted by 1959, most of these cues remained unavailable elsewhere until the archive combing CD reissues of the 1990's.

During 1958, Disneyland Records additionally introduced a series of 'story-teller' albums that competed in the marketplace with the WDL series. The story-teller albums featured all the same film songs, but added select dialogue, newly recorded narration and a colorful booklet attached into the gatefold jackets. These releases were unmistakably marketed directly to children, and so naturally, given the children's oriented nature of the films, they outsold the WDL 'adult oriented' series many fold.

In 1959, most of the WDL series of classic soundtracks were deleted in favor of alternative packaged-for-children versions with shortened programs (omitting most of the orchestral cues) and jacket designs catering to marketing simplicity rather than the sophistication of the moody painted covers of the original WDL series.

As the WDL series was confined to the late 1950's, and during its brief availabliltiy, the series competed unfavorably in the marketplace with more conspicuously children oriented releases with largely overlapping programs, WDL issue LP's are rare today. Due to ongoing confusion about the early Disneyland label issuing, reissuing and deleting procedures, the WDL series has been traditionally undervalued and unrecognized as important 'first issue' soundtrack LP's for these classic cartoon musical scores.
