78 rpm shellac record grades:-
Please note that if labels have any damage, such as stickers or writing, this will be mentioned in the condition description.
(M) Mint- In new condition, known to have never been played.
(NM or M-) Near Mint- In as-new condition. With near perfect sound quality and no obvious signs that it may have been played.
(EX or VG+) Excellent / Very Good Plus-  May show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches. There may be minor crackle on the run-in/out grooves, but the overall sound quality should be excellent.
(VG) Very Good- May have noticeable hiss resulting from groove wear, and/or surface noise resulting from marks and scratches. This will affect the sound quality, but will not overpower the music. It will still be a very good playable copy.
(G or G+) Good / Good plus- May have scratches, marks and visible groove wear. Can be played through without sticking or skipping, but it may have significant surface noise and/or background hiss.
(F, P, R) Fair, Poor or Relic- In poor condition. Only listed because they are very old, very rare, or suitable for framing. Please see item description for exact details.

Please note-
Excellent/Very Good Plus is usually the top grade for 78s manufactured 1945-1960.
Very Good is "acceptable" for all 78s, and usually the top grade for those manufactured before 1945.
Many old 78s appear to be in perfect condition yet sound terrible, and vice-versa. Unlike vinyl records, shellac 78s cannot be graded visually, they have to be play-tested.
Using alcohol based vinyl record cleaning fluid will destroy a shellac 78.
