I'LL BE SATISFIED I have known Rubin Abner and his son, Anthony, for many years and even worked with them on their album previous to this one. But I never really had the chance to talk with Rubin and Anthony and find out why there was a group called The Back To Calvary Singers. There are a large number of groups that have their own personal reasons for traveling, some involving God and some that do not. I have always known that Rubin and Anthony felt this calling to sing, but I never realized how much. I guess perhaps when I really realized the extent of their calling was when I asked them after this album session was over, how they got their name. "Dennis, one day after I had tried so hard to find a name for our group it finally came to me; that our main purpose is to turn the people's minds back to Calvary. Back to where redemption was paid that you and I would not be lost. Back to the place where peace is found and contentment for the soul is found. It's not too much to ask that we give our lives to Him that gave His for us. As you know, Dennis, Anthony and I have been singing ever since he was four years old. He can play bass, piano, accordion and guitar." But still we needed more people in our group. As I prayed I felt confident that God was going to answer my prayers and within a few days he had. Leroy and his wife, Gilda, were praying that God would set them in a good group. With that same thought in mind we set up a trial practice to see if it would work. After the practice it was no secret to anyone there that God had planned for it to be this way. Then Joe and his wife, Lily, were praying and hoping for the right opportunity to come along, at the same time I was praying for a banjo and tenor. This was working out beautifully, even more than I expected. It was now a matter of joining everyone together and trying it out. When we did, it was as though God put His seal of approval on it. With this we feel it is God's will and plan for us to be together. Many times we see people make their own way down the aisles of the churches we sing in and come to an old fashioned altar and find peace with God. After this interview with Rubin and Anthony, it was very plain in my mind that they felt this calling from God. Perhaps even more than anyone I have ever met. But they not only like to sing, they like to tell the good news that "the only peace is THE CHRISTIAN LIFE."
