THAT'S JUST HIS WAY OF TELLING ME HE LOVES ME It began in 1912, when Mother and Dad prayed through at an oldfashioned altar in Jackson County, Kentucky. A place called Rock Lick. It was years later, my Dad and Mother,Johnnyand Lucy Abner, moved to Mallory Springs near Berea, where I was born, April 11, 1922. I can remember like it was only yesterday, the wood pile by the huge fireplace, where I sat many nights eating milk and bread. It was there that Mother always read the old FAMILY BIBLE, by the light of the kerosene lamp. We always had our Family Altar around the fireside, where we would kneel, pouring our hearts out to God, to keep us and guide us. Although, Dad and Mother never claimed to be preachers, it was through their ministry that such great men as the late Rev. J. P. Lamb, Rev. Mike Lamb, of Waynesville, Ohio, W. P. Hobbs of Sand Gap, Ky., and Brother Steve Turner, of Lebanon, Ohio, wept their way through to peace with God, at an old fashioned altar. Through their ministry, thousands in this Ohio Valley, Kentucky, and Indiana area have found peace with God. Just a little about myself, and what God has done for me. I will not claim credit for any good that is done in my life. As a lot of you know, I'm living on borrowed time. I found peace and God when I was a child. I served my country in World War II and received a honorable medical discharge. Spent four years in a V. A. Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, with tuberculosis of the lungs. Laying many days on one side to keep from bleeding to death, listening to the dying all around me. It seemed the death Angel walked the hallways. It was here I talked earnestly to God. In one of my darkest hours, Brother and Sister Gilbert Lamb came to visit me. The Doctors said they couldn't operate be- cause of my condition. While they prayed, a voice spoke from the lips of Sister Virgil, saying six words that seemed to flow warm and peacefully deep in my lungs. It didn't sound like a natural voice, "MY SON YOU WILL SING AGAIN". From that moment I had new hope, and believed I would sing again. It was while in the hospital that I wrote some of the songs on this recording. God did bring me out, and gave me back my voice to sing. Even though, I cannot sing like some others, God only asked me to do my best. So you can see, why I thank God for every minute, hour, and every day of PRECIOUS LIFE HESO MERCIFULLY GIVESME. I'm thanklful for the Back to Calvary Trio, my son, Anthony, Sharron Lamb and Steve Anspach. That they, like myself, have a desire to try to help the lost, discouraged, and sin sick men, women and children dying without hope. To take another look BACK TO CALVARY and live.
