1966 Northern Soul from California on Mirwood Records: Jackie Lee “Oh, My Darlin’”/“Don’t Be Ashamed”.
Earl Lee Nelson (1928-2008) began his career with the Hollywood Flames, singing lead on their 1957 hit “Buzz Buzz Buzz”, before forming the Bob & Earl duo that scored with “Harlem Shuffle” in 1963. Using his wife’s first name and his own middle name, his became Jackie Lee he hit the charts with “The Duck”, issued in late 1965. This disc was not a national hit yet remains a northern soul favorite.
The labels are clean and unmarked. The vinyl is shiny and grades in EXC/M- condition with a couple of light sleeve marks.
It has been cleaned with an ultrasonic record cleaner as well.
This copy comes from the collection of a recently deceased New England disc jockey.
