G.E Wesson

Reverend Garland E. Wesson Born: June 8, 1926, Chidester, Arkansas Died: November 4, 2004, Glendale, Arizona Garland Edward Wesson arrived in Phoenix Arizona in 1948. An Arkansas boy by birth, he came to the valley to fulfill a dream, to build a Pentecostal church. He pioneered the very first United Pentecostal Church, Apostolic Heritage Church--Phoenix, Arizona. Reverend Wesson hosted a local radio show in the mid 1950 and 1960's. He was a foster parent for many years and his home was always open to wayward youth in need of loving guidance. Reverend G.E. Wesson also served the United Pentecostal Church International for many years in various leadership capacities: 1955-1957 - Home Missions Director; AZ District *UPCI 1957-1962 - Presbyter Section 1; AZ District *UPCI 1963-1968 - District Superintendent; AZ *UPCI 1973-1976 - Presbyter Section 1; AZ District *UPCI 1977-1982 - District Superintendent; AZ District *UPCI 1987-1988 - Southwest Regional Executive Presbyter; *UPCI 1989-2004 - Honorary District Board Member; AZ District *UPCI *UPCI - United Pentecostal Church International Garland was legendary for his gentle nature, generosity, faithfulness and unwavering love for his family and his God. Garland was also well known for his singing abilities, which led him to make a recording of a collection of his personal favorites. Garland was loved and well respected among his peers. Many pastors, ministers, and missionaries attribute their success to one, G.E. Wesson. An Arizona District church official actually requested that Pastor Wesson lend him a pair of his shoes to display in his office. He wanted to be reminded to follow in footsteps of faithfulness and commitment. Garland Edward Wesson departed from this life on Thursday, November 4, 2004, at approximately 10:00 a.m. peacefully, with a grace and dignity befitting the man. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Virginia Wesson.
